At-Home Beauty Rituals From The Mind, Body and Soul Diet

By Jennifer Nicole Lee, International Fitness Expert & Best Selling Author

I’ve seen a lot of people lose weight only to look worse than what they did when they started. Even though they lost pounds, they also lost a lot of energy and vibrancy in their overall appearance. I have seen many lose weight to have: dry skin, dark circles under their eyes, their face having a sunken in appearance, with a shapeless physique that looked very weak. Believe me, it’s not only about losing weight; it’s about looking your best, feeling your best, radiating health, and utilizing anti-aging beauty rituals. You can easily do this through some tried and true beauty and anti-aging rituals that I’ve discovered.

Groom yourself for success. When you look good, you automatically radiate more confidence. Make a point to buy clothes you feel comfortable in and that fit you well, even if they aren’t the size you want right now. If you don’t know what looks good on you, go shopping with a trusted friend who has a sense of fashion, or buy a beauty magazine that offers tips on dressing for your body shape and size.

Enjoy a massage. We must realize that massage therapy is not a luxury, but an essential part of living a healed, whole balanced lifestyle. One way I have found a massage to be affordable is to not rely solely on the high-end spas. If you go to your local massage therapy school, there are eager students ready to massage you at a discounted rate to get experience. Seek those students out and even have them come to your house. I have a massage table in my home so I can enjoy massages much more frequently without spa prices.

Create a spa environment in your home. I religiously drink hot tea because of the antioxidant effects. Other inexpensive spa treatments you can do at home include Epsom salt baths. You can buy Epson salts at your local pharmacy for a few dollars. Add it to a hot bath to mineralize your body and help draw out the built-up lactic acid from working out. It also de-stresses and relaxes you.

Enjoy a glass of red wine. Believe it or not, red wine has been scientifically proven to dramatically decrease the number-one killer among women, heart disease, by a whopping 33 percent. It’s also rich in antioxidants, so cheers to your health!

Have a chunk of extra-dark chocolate. This is why I love The Mind, Body, & Soul Diet. The antioxidants in a chunk of extra-dark chocolate (85 percent cocoa) will actually help you fight off cancer-causing free radicals and boost serotonin levels in your mind so you feel better and have a better outlook in life.

Indulge in super berries. These, too, are full of antioxidants, those cancer-fighting free radicals. They’re also great for your hair, skin, and nails. Enjoying blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries dipped in dark chocolate with a glass of red wine are beauty rituals I perform weekly. Every Friday after a long workweek, I have a hot bath with a glass of red wine with dark chocolate and my super berries. What a super fit yet super yummy and indulgent way to start the weekend! Yet, if you think about it, this is not an expensive way to treat your mind, body and soul.

Drink green tea. While doing research for this book all over China, where longevity is praised, I saw firsthand the enormous consumption of all sorts of tea and the affects it had on its consumers. Green teas benefits are astounding.
Stimulate all your senses. Infuse your room with mood enhancing aromatherapy oils and scents. Dim the lights and light a scented candle. After your hot bath, enjoy lounging on your bed in your most plush robe. Massage your feet with healing oils and then put on your softest socks. Treat yourself like the queen that you are!

Make your home your sanctuary. Your home is your solace away from the noisy world. It’s your sacred space that is filled with love, friendship, and relaxation. See your home not as a bunch of walls with a roof on it, but rather a shrine of health. Replace the candy bowl with a fresh fruit bowl. Have a special place for your workout area. Create a small meditation area. And always make it clean, as cleanliness is next to Godliness! The more relaxing, peaceful, and healthy your home is, the fitter you will become, too!

As you can see, the Mind, Body and Soul Diet is an amazing way to really achieve your fitness goals, while enjoying the luxurious process!
